Summer Giveaway Hop

So we are in the second half of summer now!  I hope everyone has been having some fun.

For this giveaway I am giving YOU some choices.
I have prize options for both US and INT.
The more entries, the more (and better) the prizes!

So the prizes POSSIBILITIES (read the rules further below) are as follows:

ARC copy (used) of Vampire Federation-Uprising
by Sean McCabe
(Continental US ONLY PRIZE)
Uprising (The Vampire Federation, #1)A gruesome ritual murder has stained the Oxfordshire countryside. It's just the first incident in a chain of events awakening Detective Inspector Joel Solomon to his worst nightmare-and a dreadful omen of things to come. Because Joel has a secret: he believes in vampires.

Alex Bishop is an agent of the Vampire Intelligence Agency. She's tasked with enforcing the laws of the global Vampire Federation, and hunting rogue members of her race. A tough job made tougher when the Federation comes under attack by traditionalist vampires. They have a stake in old-school terror-and in an uprising as violent as it is widespread.

Now it's plunging Alex and Joel into a deadly war between the living and the unloving-and against a horrifying tradition given new life by the blood of the innocent.

OR
ARC copy  (used) of Between Shades of Gray
by Ruta Sepetys
(Continental US ONLY PRIZE)
Between Shades of Gray
Lina is just like any other fifteen-year-old Lithuanian girl in 1941. She paints, she draws, she gets crushes on boys. Until one night when Soviet officers barge into her home, tearing her family from the comfortable life they've known. Separated from her father, forced onto a crowded and dirty train car, Lina, her mother, and her young brother slowly make their way north, crossing the Arctic Circle, to a work camp in the coldest reaches of Siberia. Here they are forced, under Stalin's orders, to dig for beets and fight for their lives under the cruelest of conditions.

Lina finds solace in her art, meticulously--and at great risk--documenting events by drawing, hoping these messages will make their way to her father's prison camp to let him know they are still alive. It is a long and harrowing journey, spanning years and covering 6,500 miles, but it is through incredible strength, love, and hope that Lina ultimately survives. Between Shades of Gray is a novel that will steal your breath and capture your heart

"Serena knows a few simple things. She will always be owned by a warlock. She will never have freedom. She will always do what her warlock wishes, regardless of how inane, frivolous, or cruel it is. And if she doesn’t follow the rules, she will be tarnished. Spelled to be bald, inked, and barren for the rest of her life—worth less than the shadow she casts.

Then her ownership is won by a barbarian from another country. With the uncertainty that comes from belonging to a new warlock, Serena questions if being tarnished is really worse than being owned by a barbarian, and tempts fate by breaking the rules. When he looks the other way instead of punishing her, she discovers a new world. The more she ventures into the forbidden, the more she learns of love and a freedom just out of reach. Serena longs for both. But in a society where women are only ever property, hoping for more could be deadly." - Goodreads Summary

Day 4
What was the Last book you flung across the room?

Umm...I do not throw books.  Poor books...

Although I did read this one book recently that made me SO mad I had to turn my kindle off and could not read anything for 2 days.  And I never did finish the book.  Why did I feel this way?  Plagerism, at least, to me it was.  The book:  Eric Elmoor and The Gauntlet of GodricStole city describtions, classes, and specific spells (right done to spell names and what they do), and more from Warcraft.  Might as well have been reading fanfiction.  Oh, wait, they often give credit to the original creator(s) and this did not...  Okay, stopping there before I go into a rant.

Otherwise I came close a couple times reading the last 2 Harry Potter Books,b tu that was out of character frustration.  The books I still loved.

So what about you?  Any book throwing or desire to throw?

Review:  So, this story has some redeeming qualities to it. After the last few books left me oh-so disappointed, it took some time to bother grabbing this one.

T.G.I.F. Weekly 15

T . G. I. F.  Weekly

For those of you who don't know, TGIF Weekly is a Friday post where I share 3 books I have sitting next to me that I want to read soon.  My goal was to always work on at least 1 of these books before the next Friday.
Now YOU decide what book I read first.  Leave a comment saying which book you think I should focus on and next TGIF post I will share a short blurb about what I think of the book. The blurb will only be for the book most voted for in comments.  Plus I will work on pushing the review out that much sooner.    *Please note that if a book is not read one week in may be on the list the following week*

Last weeks top vote:

Vampire Knight, Vol. 12Vampire Academy 12!

It actually tied but I was not going to push two books so Fate (also known as the coin from my penny jar) decided.

This series has been a bit of a roller coaster.  It started off really good and strong, then started getting wishy-washy with some good chapters and some horrible chapters.  This volume seems to be trying to redeem the series.  I got to also learn a big secret the headmaster has been hiding and a new pureblood has entered the scene.  Look out for my review later this weekend!

Now Eugenie is a hot target for every ambitious demon and Otherworldy ne'er-do-well, and the ones who don't want to knock her up want her dead. Eugenie handles a Glock as smoothly as she wields a wand, but she needs some formidable allies for a job like this. She finds them in Dorian, a seductive fairy king with a taste for bondage, and Kiyo, a gorgeous shape-shifter who redefines animal attraction. But with enemies growing bolder and time running out, Eugenie realizes that the greatest danger is yet to come, and it lies in the dark powers that are stirring to life within her...

No one I know in real life has a blog so I don't have anyone else just yet that I know of.

I would love to get to know more bloggers.  So I have some open slots right now for the question the next time it is asked. :) *Hint Hint*

Hot Paranormal Nights Blog Hop

 Another Hop!

3 Hops  back-to-back!
I have been a busy girl these past 2 weeks and I hope my followers are having a blast (and hopefully winning books).

So the theme is hot paranormal nights!  As stated by the hosts "This event celebrates all things that go bump in the night. Whether you like your sexy heroes to have fangs or fur, or your spunky heroines to harness magical forces, or any other sort of paranormal elements to spice up your romances, this is the hop for you!"

As many many know I am a huge vampire novel fan.  Now while I am normally into the darker, dangerous, scary types mostly, once in a while it is good to mix it up.  So I hope you like the book I have in store for this theme.

But before I reveal the book, let me point out my other giveaways over to the Right Hand side, just above GFC followers!  Please Make sure to check them out.  Several entries such as likes, review comments can easily add up (Example comment on 1 review, but enter that comment for all giveaways)!!!

Day 2
What's your bedtime reading ritual?

Well, when I read before bed what I do depends on how early I head that direction.  If I plan to do some serious reading for a couple hours, I grab a drink (water or tea usually) and maybe a light snack (such as carrot sticks).  Then I prop a bunch of pillows around me to get a comfy position half sitting/half laying down.  at this point I am often in sleep clothes.

As it gets later, of if I am only planning a short read time, I finding getting ready for bed (brush/wash,etc), grab my cat and curl up with her on my arm, fully laying down now and read for awhile.

If I have to get up early I will read a book I enjoy but am not to into yet so I am not stuck up all night reading hopefully.  Once I have laid down, reading can last 5 min-1 hr.

Guilty admission-some nights I don't read before bed.  Sshhh!! Don't tell!

Top Ten Words/Topics That Will Make You NOT pick up a book.

Well before I begin I must forwarn everyone that NONE of these are 100%, but overall the following tend to be my "offs" for books.  Once again, these are in no particular order.

  1. Expensive ebooks.  I am cheap here.  $2.99 or less is my theory.  Anything more and I would prefer to buy a physical copy even if it costs more.

Topic:  Top Ten Authors Who Deserve More Recognition.

Hmmm, this is tricky.  They are big authors I want to promote just because they are THAT GOOD. and there are new authors, who may have only written one book but show promise.  Also, how them do I pick only 10?  So I randomly went through my books I considered 5 Star worthy and here are 10 random authors to share.

But before I go into these I want to point out my current GIVEAWAY I have running!  Please check it out and join. :)  I also am participating in The Hot Summer Romance Giveaway Hop starting on the 18th so be sure to check back then to double up your entries. :)  Thanks!

Now on to those authors!!! Again, no particular order nor guaranteed as my top ten.  Just 10 authors I have enjoyed and see potential with.

1-Dean Koontz While he is a big-time author, his books are some of the best I have ever read.  If you have never read his books, DO SO!  NOW!  Especially some of his work for the 80's and 90's.  For the Horror, Suspense, thriller fans in particular.

2.  Erin Kellison- The author who introduced me to paranormal romance.  I LOVE her series.  And there is enough action in the first one that i know a few guys who read and liked it too!
