TGIF Weekly 27

How this works: YOU, the reader get to help me pick out my upcoming reads and reviews. Before it was to help me choose which book to read next but I quickly found myself behind on books that were due back to the library and review commitments. So, instead of choosing of having to read a specific book every week, I will instead let you help pick what book I will post a review for next week. Vote by leaving a comment for what you want to see my review for out of the 3 choices. Most voted on by end of day Tuesday will be posted between Wednesday and Friday (before the next TGIF post). I might even post more than 1 review for these depending on how many vote and on what other posts I have set up (especially other reviews). Also past books (if not reviewed) may come up in future TGIFs.
Also I have a poll up on the right column to vote for my upcoming reads. The more votes the higher the chances of that book being read sooner and the higher the chances of a review soon. I will change the books listed for the polls every couple weeks so be on the lookout for changes to the list. Old books may remain until read but this way I can hopefully better cater to reader's interest. :)

I was really looking forward to this. Sadly, if fell short of my hopes and expectations. I love super hero stories but I guess I should stick to Marvel and DC comics for that. This reminded me heavily of the Power Rangers show which I hated growing up. So reading this was actually a bit painful at times. Young kids will likely love this but I think it lacks enough depth to hold interest for older teens or adults. Just my opinion though. Full Review to come soon.

This was a fun read and I look forward to the sequel. This was better than I expected to be honest. Lots of pieces to put together to solve Emily's identity of what she is. I won't say too much hear, mainly because I already posted the review a couple days ago. See it here. Normally this blurb give you a sneak peek blurb before my review but it was due for a tour and as I was unable to properly create post last week, this was done a bit backwards. The Summer I became a Nerd was quite a fun, relaxing read. It was like taking a trip down memory lane with the comic store and roleplay friends (although I never did do live-action). Now I miss it and want to go play again! Maddie is a typical, stuck-in-her-own-world teenager and is easy to relate to as almost everyone has been in her situation (hiding some part of themselves from the world). A perfect read for the summer end!

This is a sequel to The Magic Warble. This is a book for review I am doing (review and giveaway coming in October!!!). This book picks up about 2 1/2 years after the last book, where Kristina is now 15 and she, and the others find themselves once again in Bernovem. We get to see more a more romantic relationship between Kristina and Werrien as well. It is quite an enjoyable young adult, fantasy adventure. See you next month with more information on this book!

This was better than I expected! Although, I must admit I didn't have the highest of expectants. Still, this was a fast-paced, time-travelling game of cat and mouse! It is very well played out. The boy, Riley is an awesome kid. I have actually already posted the review earlier today so I will keep this short and you can see my review here

There are some good stories in here! Especially the one by Aprillynne Pike. I wanted more... It could have been a fun-length novel! If I am lucky she may expand on the story. Some stories are just odd though. Still, worth checkin out in my opinion. I have a few more stories to read and then I will get a review up for you all!

So far, this is a decent book, but it hasn't grabbed me as much yet as Richelle Mead's other books have. However, I still have a long ways to go and the book still holds potential but I doubt this will be a particular favorite of mine. Mae is an interesting character thus far. I wish the beginning did a better job creating the setting. When I started reading, I wasn't sure what was going on the first few chapters. Otherwise, not a bad start!

An interesting start for this book. I was hoping to have more time to get into this book a bit more but a library book came up due that I thought I would be able to renew so my week was off a bit. Sorry. The prologue gets you right into the thick of things but then it seems to taper down. LOTS of characters so far which is a bit to take in right from the first few chapters. The walking, talking, throne lounging, hugging dragons so far confuse me a bit from the one in the prologue and the cover. the foundation seems like it is going to make for a good epic fantasy however. I look forward to continuing it.

Aono Tsukune is so hard up on luck, that he can't even get admitted into
high school. His parents finally find him a school with no tests
required for admittance, out in the middle of nowhere. He finds out the
school is a youkai (monster) academy, Just as he is about to resign
himself and get back on the bus home, he bumps into a beautiful girl.
Turns out this beautiful girl, Akashiya Moka, is also a vampire who
bites him right off the bat. They become friends and Tsukune is ready
for a happy school life with her, until he finds out that if a human is
found on the school grounds, he or she should be killed. Now Tsukune
must conceal his identity from the rest of the monsters at school, while
at the same time being a ready snack for Moka when ever the urge takes
her. What effect will this have on Tsukune and will Moka be able to
keep him out of harm's way?

I am really enjoying this one so far. I am about 2/3 through the book right now. I actually messed up in a way since I read the graphic novel first which covers half the book (and very well too) but thus far I an enjoying it. Very different from her Y.A. books, Richelle Mead is doing great branching out. She played it well staying in the same genre. but this book is definitely for mature readers. Eugenie 'Odile' is well done. Although I do wish there was more action in the book. Full Review to come when I finish.
