Top Ten Tuesday 17

My Bookish Bucket List!
Bookish things I want, or want to do before I kick it.  Depressing to overthink about but here are some big-life goals I have.   In no particular order.

1)  To Read at least 25,000 books  in my lifetime.
Highly ambitious, I know, but if I live a long, reasonably healthy life and keep my eyesight this might be possible.  Especially counting manga/graphic novels, and reading to the children.  Still, it will take a long time to get there.  My old goal was 100,000.  I figured that was a bit too much so this might be possible

2) To work in a bookstore or library
I always wanted my own bookstore but I would be happy to just work in one even.  Dream job!

3)  To have my own personal library.
I already own a huge amount of books to get started but no where to display them.  Joy of a small home.  But one day, I hope to have my own fancy home library.

4)  To attend a huge book event
Such as BEA, etc.  I have never had the funds (or the time whenever I may have the funds) to do such an event.  Even author signings near where I live (within a couple hour drive) is extremely rare.

5) To get caught up on my TBR list on Goodreads.
Or even get it to a reasonable amount to books added within a few months or so.  Right now, it just keeps getting longer as I am still listing and cataloging all my books.  Not to mention all the new discoveries of books that sound interesting.

The Diary of a Young Girl   Angels & Demons (Robert Langdon, #1)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1)   The Tangle Box (Magic Kingdom of Landover, #4)

Top Ten Reasons I Love Being A Blogger/Reader

So I will be sharing a mix of both here.

Reader-  All the different genres available provide some great entertainment.  Depending on my mood, books almost always can provide me something that I can find interesting.  Be it fantasy. mystery, horror or a few laughs!

Reader- All the worlds to explore!  I love the escape from my reality and life.  Be it literally another world, time, or even just place.  I get to be  somewhere else while still being safe and comfortable in my own home.

Blogger- I get to share awesome books  (or not so awesome at times) with others!

Top Ten Tuesdays 12

Hosted by Broke and Bookish.

So this week was book worlds I would never want to be in or characters I would never want to be.  So I will be sharing a mix!

So these are some book worlds I would never want to be a part of.  Sadly, they can all fall under the same basic dystopian genres but those are meant to be unpleasant worlds, right?  Most books I read I would love to visit the world of.  So this was tricky.

Plague of the Dead (Morningstar Strain, #1)
Zombies!  And easy to become one.  And the set traps! Yikes!!

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)
Mostly poor communities under military control, a crazed main city, death matches, and worse...no thanks.

BioShock: Rapture
Have you played the games?  If you have you can guess why I wouldn't want to be here.  Drug obsessive loonies, violent psychos, power hungry tyrants.

Top Ten Books I Would Love To See As A Movie/TV Show

No particular order, these are just 10 titles that I think would make awesome Movies/TV Shows.  I do not guarantee these as even my top in all reality.  Just 10 books that would be neat to see as a series or movie.  I know most, if not all, never will but  a girl can dream, right?

 BioShock: Rapture

This was an amazing book.  Yes, it is based off the Video game series.  This is actually a prequel to it all and I think it would be great to see as a movie.

The Amulet of Samarkand (Bartimaeus, #1)

This would make a fun series.  Bartimaeus is a all-time favorite character of mine.  They could base it off the book adventures but even show us his other stories.

Top Ten Things That Make Our Life As Bloggers Easier and/or Better!

So many choices here but here is what top the list-in no particular order

  • Goodreads-I LOVE THIS SITE!!!  So much to do, people to meet.  Authors, reading groups, book topics, trivia, giveaways and more!  I can virtually shelve books any way I want.  And then sort by various stats (rating, page #, publish date, title, author, etc).  I have meet some great people through this site and can easily spend several hours a day there!  The only thing I miss is the swap program they too away, but that leads me to....

  • Bookmooch.com-  For those of you willing to read used books, check this out.  Similar to paperbackswap but more flexible in how you use it.  List the books you have, set limits on where you send the book.  You decide when to ship, easy ways to make condition notes or status notes that other uses can see.  Easy feedback, no limit to your wishlists.  You pay only for what you send out.   Get points for sending books.  Unlike paperbackswap you get a kickback bonus.  For every 10 books you list, you get a bonus point to use for a book, regardless if the book is requested!  Best of all-it's FREE!

The Topic for This week:
Top Ten Books I Wish Could Have Had Sequels

This is short.  There aren't too many books that I wish has sequels.  Most I read do.  Now if it was what series' do I wish were longer, that would be another story.  Oh well, maybe a future top ten?  So here are the few I could think of.  I am likely missing some but I cannot think of them right now.  No particular order here.
The Acadian Secret by Tammy Lowe

I actually just finished this but I wanted more of the situation between two characters. There is easily room here for another adventure.

Between Shades of Gray

I know this story had an end but I wanted more! I wanted to see how she reconnects with others, what happens when they go home. While I may know the facts, I want more of Lina’s story.

Top Ten Tuesday 5

The Topic for This week:
Top Ten Words/Topics That Will Make You NOT pick up a book.

Well before I begin I must forwarn everyone that NONE of these are 100%, but overall the following tend to be my "offs" for books.  Once again, these are in no particular order.

  1. Expensive ebooks.  I am cheap here.  $2.99 or less is my theory.  Anything more and I would prefer to buy a physical copy even if it costs more.

Top Ten Tuesday #4

Hosted by Broke and Bookish.

Topic:  Top Ten Authors Who Deserve More Recognition.

Hmmm, this is tricky.  They are big authors I want to promote just because they are THAT GOOD. and there are new authors, who may have only written one book but show promise.  Also, how them do I pick only 10?  So I randomly went through my books I considered 5 Star worthy and here are 10 random authors to share.

But before I go into these I want to point out my current GIVEAWAY I have running!  Please check it out and join. :)  I also am participating in The Hot Summer Romance Giveaway Hop starting on the 18th so be sure to check back then to double up your entries. :)  Thanks!

Now on to those authors!!! Again, no particular order nor guaranteed as my top ten.  Just 10 authors I have enjoyed and see potential with.

1-Dean Koontz:  While he is a big-time author, his books are some of the best I have ever read.  If you have never read his books, DO SO!  NOW!  Especially some of his work for the 80's and 90's.  For the Horror, Suspense, thriller fans in particular.

2.  Erin Kellison- The author who introduced me to paranormal romance.  I LOVE her series.  And there is enough action in the first one that i know a few guys who read and liked it too!

Top Ten #3

Hosted by Broke and Bookish.

This weeks topic:   Most Intimidating Books (might be intimated by size, content, that everyone else loves it but you are sure you won't etc).
These are books I am pulling from my to-read list.
I don't know if these are ultimately my top ten but these are ten that fulfill the criteria.  As usual-no particular Priority order.
The Tale of Genji
Why:  1135 Pages!  I have heard this is such a great novel for 11th Century Japanese Culture.  Yes it was written in the 11th century so the writing, even translated and concepts may not always be easy to grasp but I am still determined to read this one day.
A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1)
Why:  I really want to read this, but one, is is nearly 900 pages and each book that follows is long too!  While there are currently only 5 books out, I know there are at least 3 more he is planning on and possibly written...
