    1. Yeah, the 'Young Adult' genre has really blurred the lines. 'New Adult' I fear may do the same.

  5. I really want to read this, especially since the movie is out. I have this rule that I can't watch the movie unless I read the book. Great review!

  6. I gotta be honest but I haven't really read any book from this series and because of your review I know now that it has a lot of high school drama (which I love..haha) and with the upcoming release of the movie I must read this ASAP!

    1. When I first read the book, it was good, not great. I guess my review is biased a bit on the next few books as I had read those as well so my thought concept for plot ran together a bit. It does get better by quite a bit. Especially by book 3. Non-stop from there!

  9. The first book was okay for me, I kind of really didn't liked it. But when I finally delved into Frostbite, I was surprised it got alot much better! The action was more badass and Rose has immediately fallen unto my list of favorite EVER heroines. I'm really eager to finish this series and am planning to buy the other books really soon. I cannot believe I'm missing out!

  10. I love this book! Glad you did too. I think it's solidly YA though. I dealt with much more mature issues when I was a teen and so did everyone else I knew.

Too bad they killed the movie, from what I hear. :(

    1. Teen/Ya basically the same thing now. Go to a library, they are all mixed together.

  13. I love this book and it is one of my favorite series!! L.J. Smith is one of the best writers ever!!

    1. LJ Smith is okay from what little I have read but Richelle Mead here blows her away in my opinion!

  14. I meant to type Richelle Mead is one of the best writers ever I was thinking of L.J. Smith because I saw the review for the Vampire Diaries before so I mixed the names up!

  17. Most of my friends recommended this book to me, and yeah, I agree that this book was fab. But, I don't know, why I never start to read it yet, and always skip this book for another book.

  18. I really love her books, including this series!
I own all the books out so far and have read them over and over again! While I love the Twilight series (the books way more than the movies) I think the Vampire Academy is so much better.

  24. I absolutely loved this book :) I was very disappointed with the last 3. They took me the longest to read and I just wasn't digging the whole Dimitri thing but the first was awesome! And the second and third were just as awesome :]

    1. It was better than what I expected based on the trailer but still think the cast options could have been better. I struggle when the people on the cover look one way yet the actors look totally different!

  26. I loved this book! The cover turned me away from it for a very very very long time. But then I found it cheap at a used bookstore and decided "hey! why not?" I found Rose and Lissa to be annoying at times but over all, one of my faves :) :) :)

    1. I held off for a long time too. Like you I just basically went why not myself at the library while shelving them. Glad I did! Lissa annoyed me at times. Rose I liked overall.

  27. I enjoyed this series as well, although I like Bloodlines better. I'm glad you liked it :D And I like how short and simple your reviews are. I don't like the reviews that drag on and on and make me bored by the time I'm finished reading it XD

    1. Some of my reviews are longer. I've noticed I varied. Although over they are normally longer nowadawys than this is. Hope you still like them! I enjoy Bloodlines as well.

  28. I haven't read this series yet. When I first saw it around the blogosphere, it didn't interest me too much. I recently watched and enjoyed the film adaptation so maybe I'll check out the books too.

  29. This was one of my favourite series because it's one of the few that sucked me into the world and made me want the next book in the series.

  30. I loved this book! I was worried it might be cheesy or something, but it turned out to be the opposite. I loved Rose and Lissa and their friendship. I thought the world was super cool and fun to read about. I still have to read the last three books of the series and I'm so excited to get back into the world and the characters' lives. (:

  31. Yay I absolutely love the series, so glad you liked it!! I don't think that it's super mature in terms of content, well maybe the whole thing that Mia does... well, alright it's a little on the more mature side. Definitely not a MG read.

    1. love the entire series! On maturity, I felt it was medium-high for age group. A 17 year old is fine, most likely a 16 year old fine. but say a 14 year old, maybe not so much. but all is pending reader maturity. I can think of a 40 year old that should not read this due to being highly sensitive.

  32. I LOVED the books, well the first three since they are the only one's I've read so far. I don't plan on seeing the movie. I've only heard terrible things...
