So first off, I know this book was written a long time ago, but as I state in my Review Index I will list books of a series that is still ongoing.
This was a decent enough
book. The book is written primarily from Elena's (a popular high school
girl) perspective. She meets the new student, Stefan, and immediately
likes him and decides she wants him. The first half of the book is her
pursuing him, the second half is her meeting another mysterious guy and
trying to find out about Stefan's past. We find out her mysterious
stalker is Stefan's brother Damon. Damon and Stefan are both vampires
who killed each other in a fight over a girl, who looked like Elena.
Reading this book I now see where Stephanie Meyer got her idea for the Twilight Saga. Human wants vampire, no rational reason. The part where she finds out what he is is almost the same as Twilight. The book was light and easy reading but sometimes the characters seemed a bit shallow. However, the store does show potential and I enjoyed reading about Stefan's past.

If addition to the book series, there is also the TV series that is out now as well. So feel free to check it out as well.
I think I enjoy the TV show more than the books
ReplyDeleteThe books start off okay but lost interest about 5 books in. I saw about 10 minutes of the series and saw too much drama and character changes so I am holding back and watching it but it is still on my netflix queue to watch one day.
DeleteI love the TV series version of The Vampire Diaries but I haven't read any of its book. And Im planning to buy a set so I can know what are the changes they made from the book. Thanks for the review! I also love Stefan's past and how he end up in Elena's life.
ReplyDeleteI tried to watch the tv series but it was quite different from the book. Even basic things like how characters looked were very different so I was put off by the tv series. One day I will try again.
DeleteGreat review!
ReplyDeleteI liked the book and I haven't really watched the t.v. show recently.
ReplyDeleteI started the tv show but couldn't get past the first episode. I'll have to give it another shot one day.
DeleteGreat review. I didn't realize this book was that old. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't popular for a long time it seems.
DeleteI don't think that these books are similar to twilight at all, aside from the obvious vampire aspect. I think with Stefan and Damon Smith has two super strong interesting characters that the Twilight saga obviously lacks. Edward is not a strong lead. I wonder what you think about the newest ghostwritten sequels.
ReplyDeleteI have read 1 of the ghostwritten books. More unique but very different from this. The characters may be different but sub plots are too common to me.
