  1. Thanks for the giveaway! I love mermaid books and two that don't get attention are Ink by Melanie Karsak and Merman's Kiss by Dee J. Stone. I always try to find books that no one has ever heard of. ;)

  2. Very interesting. I love some of those covers.
Sara Daltry's book "Dust" should get some more love.
Yefon: The Red Necklace by Sahndra Dufe is also worth reading.

    1. Oh, and probably every 5th book I read is by an indie/ unknown author.

  3. I read quite a few actually by little or unknown authors. They have just as much odds of being good as bad so if they catch my attention, I'm in! One book that I think could use more attention would be... GANG OF SLEUTHS by PB Lundqvist. .. The Curse of the Jade Dodo by Jake G Panda.

  4. Thanks for the giveaway!! I will have to go with The Governor's Son by Maria McKenzie

  5. I really don't know how many books that I read and not known too much by others. I have my favorite authors and certain genres. I guess I don't check the ratings on them, I read them if I enjoy it.

  6. I have a few on my wish list that have less than 500 ratings on GRs. I have found a love for those books that are less known.

  7. I think I read a constant mix of well known and unknown books. A title that I've read that deserves more attention is Season of Secrets by Sally Nichols (it's whimsical and reminded me of The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman).

  8. I feel like Candor by Pam Bachorz needs more attention. Such a great book! I read a mix or well-known and unknown books but honestly more well-known books :-)

  9. Fortune's Formula by William Poundstone. It's fair to say a lot of my book choices are reasonably esoteric.

by Janet Fox and I read books that don't get attention often

  11. I can't think of any author right now!

  12. Stealing Mercury (Arena Dogs #1) by Charlee Allden. I usually don't read unknowns, but I am getting more open on my reading. Thanks for joining the hop!

  13. The Great Lenore by J.M. Tohline. I read anything that sounds interesting to me, so I quite often read books that are relatively unknown.

  16. I love see me by wendy higgins. It's hard to know which books are known by others, but i read a mix of indie and published books. Anything that looks good, and lots of goodread recommendations. I'm currently reading aurora sky by nikki jefford and it's good.

  17. There's several books I feel need more attention, the Badass Brats series by Sorcha Black, Leia Shaw, and Cari Silverwood.

  18. Confessions of an L.A. Funeral Director by Denny Dormody. Yes, my reading interests are rather varied. So, if a book looks interesting, I read it. I'm not hung up on only reading popular authors.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The Experiment in Terror series by Karina Halle is awesome. I don't read a ton of indie authors, but there are a couple that I read everything they write.

  20. Jellicoe road, by Melina Marchetta. I actually don´t know how many books I read that are unknown o not. If I see something interesting I just read it.

  23. The Counting Downers by AJ Compton. I won an ecopy of it from a giveaway. And it was really really interesting and it made me ugly cry. Not too often as I like.

  24. I would love to see the books of Eryk Pruitt get more attention. He has written 2 very dark comedy thrillers. Also, there is a wonderful series by Carolyn Haines that is not as recognized as it should be: Sarah Booth Delaney Mysteries series.
I read books that are not on the best seller list most of the time. I would say once every week or two.

  25. I Just finished reading a book from Jon Steele (who I had not heard of before) called "the Watchers" and I loved it. I found out that the book is now the first in a trilogy. I can't wait to read the others. I tend to read whatever looks or sounds interesting to me when I'm shopping; I really don't care how famous the authors are or not. Sometimes the local authors put out great stuff.

  26. I mostly read romance novels and I think Mary Balogh is an author who needs more attention!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ancients of Light by Heather Fleener is one series that doesn't get enough attention.
I don't read that many... I mostly read what friends rec and favorite authors talk about.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I am not really how to answer the first question. I have tons of favorite books and I think they all need lots of attention. I may not be the typical reader... As much as I love to read I probably only know the names of 5-10 authors by popularity. Most books I find browsing. I don't think I have read a book I didn't like. Some I may have started off not caring much for but I always get captured and sucked in. I never give up on a book. I read a lot of books by lesser known authors because who wrote the book isn't that important to me. One day I will write a book and have it published (my bucket list) and I would want people to love my story more than my name.

  29. I think Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and the rest of the series, by Ransom Riggs, is one to read and needs more attention :) I find books by going to the store and looking at titles, covers and reading the back of the book. If I'm interested, I'll buy it. There are only a couple authors that I follow and always buy their books. I have found some great authors by just picking a book out from the shelf :)

  30. I often read books that are relatively unknown to others as long as I find the books appealing to my liking. Underrated books I know are FROM THE CITY, FROM THE PLOUGH by ALEXANDER BARON, HE DIED WITH HIS EYES OPEN by DEREK RAYMOND, WAR REPORTING FOR COWARDS by CHRIS AYRES.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The Harvest Trilogy by Chuck Wendig is one of my favorite series! And I do from time to time, about half of the time! :D

  32. Books from third world authors are overlooked. I try to read emerging writers very 5 books or so.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Witchlanders by Lena Coakley. The book is an amazing fanatsy read but has somehow flown under the radar. But I'm guilty when it comes to lesser known books. Most of the book I read are popular ones but I do read unpopular ones if they're fantasy.

  37. I think Clare London's SAY A LITTLE PRAYER, Tara Lain's Genetic Attraction series, Edmond Manning's Lost and Founds books, and Eden Winters' Diversion series are just a few underrated books that deserve attention. It could be argued that I read under-the-radar books all the time, since I'm an m/m fanatic and that genre is still seen as marginalized...

  38. Shade's Children by Garth Nix. I know his Abhorsen series gets a lot of attention, but I remember reading this book and loving it. The plus side is this book is a standalone book too. No need to wait for more books!

  39. Eryk Pruitt is a new author to books. He has two very dark comedy books out right now that need attention. You have to like very dark comedy though, in order to fully enjoy his books:
    Dirtbags
    Hashtag
and a third one on the writing table.

  43. Pretty Girl-13 by Liz Coley. I read books that don't get attention often, because I like to discover new authors. Thanks for the chance! (Valentina B. -on the raffle)

  44. I think the Veneficas Americana series by M. K. Hobson and the Thousand Kingdoms trilogy by N. K. Jemisin really need more attention, as both series are awesome. I read unknown authors, especially when I win their books.

  45. Any of The Cassandra Kresnov Series by Joel Shepherd, I do sometimes, mostly e-books though.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Books that need more attention are the Sentinels of New Orleans series by Suzanne Johnson and the Penton Vampire series by Susannah Sandlin. I enjoy discovering new authors and read books by relatively unknown authors.

  47. I think The Girl and the Clockwork Cat by Nikki McCormack and Spark of Light by Elizabeth Tuttle need more hype!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Rhiannon Frater is the author of the AS THE WORLD DIES zombie trilogy and other horror novels, she's amazing!! I have a Blog, so I read and review a LOT of amazing books written by Indie authors.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The Slave by I.B.Singer :)
And I read those kind of books rather often actually x)

  50. I don't really read any unknown books, per se. The books I usually read are well-known, or at least not unknown, by coincidence. A few books that need more attention are Prince With Benefits by Gabriela Cabezut and The Fire Wish by Amber Lough.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I was going to recommend Ready Player One by Ernest Cline by I see it's already on your bookshelf. And I get a lot of my recommendations from my sister.

    Kelley L.

  52. Disturbing the Peace by Richard Yates and Wifey by Judy Blume are two that should get more attention! I occasionally read books that don't get a ton of attention :)
Thanks for the chance to win!

  53. tales of known space by larry niven - regnod(at)yahoo(d0t)com

  54. Ten Below Zero by Whitney Barbetti deserves more attention! I often read indie authors so it's common to find a real gem that's not well known in the bookish community.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think a book that needs more attention is The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. It's technically YA but really amazing.
I read books that need more attention fairly regularly.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think that To Love a Dead Boy by Lena Eve REALLY needs more attention than it gets. It's an amazing vampire book and I absolutely love it but on goodreads, it has no more than 5 or 10 reviews which is really really sad.
I read a few book that are unknown to others. Mainly through review requests and most of them are SO good

  57. I don't think Cate Tiernan's books get enough attention or C.C. Hunter's Shadow Falls series and thanks for the giveaway!! :D

  60. A book I love that isn't at all well-known is Follow the Cowherd Boy, by J.A. Joshi. It was published way back in 2006, when I met the author, but she's still fairly unknown in most reading circles, which is sad to me, because I love her writing, and she's a very sweet woman.
