Tarkin (Star Wars)A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. . . .

Bestselling Star Wars veteran James Luceno gives Grand Moff Tarkin the Star Wars: Darth Plagueis treatment, bringing a legendary character from A New Hope to full, fascinating life.

He’s the scion of an honorable and revered family. A dedicated soldier and distinguished legislator. Loyal proponent of the Republic and trusted ally of the Jedi Order. Groomed by the ruthless politician and Sith Lord who would be Emperor, Governor Wilhuff Tarkin rises through the Imperial ranks, enforcing his authority ever more mercilessly . . . and zealously pursuing his destiny as the architect of absolute dominion.

Rule through the fear of force rather than force itself, he advises his Emperor. Under Tarkin’s guidance, an ultimate weapon of unparalleled destruction moves ever closer to becoming a terrifying reality. When the so-called Death Star is completed, Tarkin is confident that the galaxy’s lingering pockets of Separatist rebellion will be brought to heel—by intimidation . . . or annihilation.

Until then, however, insurgency remains a genuine threat. Escalating guerrilla attacks by resistance forces and newfound evidence of a growing Separatist conspiracy are an immediate danger the Empire must meet with swift and brutal action. And to bring down a band of elusive freedom fighters, the Emperor turns to his most formidable agents: Darth Vader, the fearsome new Sith enforcer as remorseless as he is mysterious; and Tarkin—whose tactical cunning and cold-blooded efficiency will pave the way for the Empire’s supremacy . . . and its enemies’ extinction.

HuskThey call them ‘husks’, the demons that cross the Farfall Mountains, leaving a trail of blood in their wake.
No incursion goes unmet; otherwise the cancer would spread until the whole of Aethir was consumed by nightmares.

That’s why the Maresmen were formed—trackers and warriors charged with holding back the tide. Each of them is different, uniquely suited to the task in hand, but one thing they hold in common: they are half-breeds, part human, part husk; and they are bound by an inviolable rule:

Hunt the husks, or be hunted themselves.

Jebediah Skayne has been hunting husks his entire adult life, but there’s something different about the trail leading to the fishing town of Portis on the shores of the Chalice Sea: no spoor, no footprints; nothing save the unmistakable feeling of wrongness.

Finding a husk in Portis would be near impossible for someone who didn’t have the sixth sense, but the instant Jeb arrives, all trace of the incursion vanishes. Forced to rely on more mundane methods of investigation, he starts to uncover a town rife with corruption, where a man will kill you for looking at a woman the wrong way; a town that’s seen its share of incursions from the land of nightmares before.

As events start to slip from his control, he realizes the husk he's come to kill is one step ahead of the game, and it holds a secret that will shake his world to the core.

The Glen

There's something different about Jackson.
There always was, but when the savant six year old begins to suffer catatonic trances, both his parents are filled with worry. Helplessly they watch the episodes, which begin with their son going stiff as a board, unresponsive and staring into space. Their frustration grows as they search for answers and doctors are unable to explain the trances. The only one who may have the answer is his mother Clarice, but she’s keeping it to herself. Confronting her fear that Jackson may have inherited her ability to see the unseen world and the demons that haunted her childhood, will mean admitting her own paranormal past, a past she has hidden even from her husband.
But is Clarice the only one who can explain Jackson’s condition? His nanny, Mrs. Nicestrum has been with the Millers since the day he was born. While usually over-protective and suspicious of all strangers, Nicey is oddly unconcerned over the catatonic spells.
When John Miller's construction company expands, the tiny family relocates to a remote piece of land in Ithaca NY. Here Clarice discovers THE GLEN, a slice of sylvan paradise, whose borders call to her spirit and touch every extrasensory nerve she ever imagined. With no idea destiny has drawn them there and completely unaware of the satanic cult plotting to kill her son, Clarice must learn the purpose of THE GLEN in order to save him. But will discovering the reason her son needs THE GLEN prove as perilous as delivering him to it?
Both a mystery to unravel and a paranormal thriller to excite, THE GLEN reads like a photographic negative of THE OMEN. With biblical clues that foreshadow the apocalyptic mystery, THE GLEN is a classic tale of good versus evil and the first in The Glen Series by Carla Coon.

  4. Wow, awesome haul! I'm generally wary of tie-in novels, but it's taking every ounce of self-control I have not to snag a copy of Tarkin. Best of luck with Rawn's trilogy - her stuff is amazing.

  5. I dread seeing more releases in the Pretty Little Liars series! I read and liked the first one so bought a pile of the books which I haven't read yet. Now I'm losing count of how many there are! *panics* Enjoy your books!

  6. I'm intrigued by a couple books mentioned in your post :
. Cinderella's Secret Diaries -- I enjoy fairy tale re-tellings and fairy-tale inspired books, movies, and TV shows. The most creative re-telling of Cinderella I've seen was in an episode of Grimm.

. Pretty Little Liars -- this would be a total guilty pleasure read for me, much like Gossip Girl. I haven't read any of the books for PLL nor have I watched the show but they're on my TBR/TBW lists.
